Predator

I believe that it is due to the fact that your car must use ODB2 to allow the handheld programmers to work. ODBII started for Ford in 98. I think this is right but if not I am sure someone will correct me :)

OBD2 was federally required on all 1996 model year cars and up. no idea why it doesnt work.

If the predator does not work on your 97, I don't know why. If it doesn't, SCT does. OBDII as stated was required on 96+ cars, however Ford started using it on some models in 94. The 94 - 95 TBird/Cougar with a 4.6 is an EEC V and is OBDII.
