I was at the NMRA event at US131 Motorsports Park this past weekend. Ford had 2 of their '05 GTs on display. At any rate, a total of 3 hits were made. It appears as if they will run about 14.7sec at 98mph out of the box. Given this, it appears that they will be no faster than any other bone stock GT that we have had for the past 15 years.

I chalk it up to conditions and/OR poor driving. Those are almost non PI 4.6 numbers.

Well, track conditions were perfect. 75-80*, 5mph breeze, low humidity, excellent track surface, and so on. Several NMRA world records broken that weekend.

As for the driver. Dr. Jamie Meyer of the NMRA. Granted, he's no Donny Walsh. 60' times were around 2.2sec.

What I could tell from the stands was that he did not "powershift". That may account for a few 10ths. BTW, these were not automatic transmissions. Broke traction in 1st and 2nd gears.

No mods or special tuning, no slicks. Pirrelli P Zeros.

Take the info for what it's worth.

Not really, the ET is, but not the MPH. 98 is good for 13's with traction.

That ET and MPH does not make any sense, unless the driver was really taking it easy off the line.

To run that slow and make 98MPH is VERY impressive.

That's why I asked, because low 14s seems to be a kick in teh balls
, I'm waiting to see what they do when they really hit the streets and track with somebody who knows what they are doing in a Stang behind the wheel.

You aren't the only one brother. I've seen Vettes run 15's, so I'm not too worried about the new Stangs potential

Either way, I think the 05 will be one kick ass car.

Whatever, guys. I just calls em as I sees em. I am sure there will be a cover story on it in 5.0 Magazine, MM&FF, and Race Pages. So, until then, you'll just have to take my word for it.

Or not, because there was a video of a pre-production 05 GT running a 14.2 without a launch, and it was also loaded with instruments

That's right! I damn near fogot about that video. But, if memory serves, I don't think they showed any "proof" of the car doing 14.2, you just heard someone say 14.2. I guess that's as good as seeing the board.

Stop this crazy talk! You are all convincing me to keep my WRX wagon (that runs low 13's/102mph all day). Or maybe I'll hold out for the Cobra...

No way, it will do better than that. It should be a high 13 car at around 105 MPH. But now that I have seen the pricing, forget it. I would much rather pay a little more and get a GTO or an Evo and blow right past it
