pressing out ball joint?

Has anyone used one of those giant C-clamp ball joint presses to remove and intall a ball joint. Mine needs replacing and several people have mentioned that you have to take the control arm off and and take it to a machine shop. Let me know if the C-clamp press is worth it.

In some cases it's easier to just buy a new set of control arms, i think they were stock on 93's they have the clear ball joint dust cover.

That's what i did.

I used the autozone C-clamp when I did my 5 lug changeover (pressed in SN95) ball joints.

It's not that big of a deal, and we did not take the control arms off the car.

yep. the C clamp route works well. i had a shop do it anyhow, since i was getting bushings pressed in and out.

those things do work well though. as Todd mentioned, AZ loans them out.

So I used the giant C-clamp press and it works very well and to confirm what others have told me the 94 ball joints do press into the older A-arms which is nice for me cause Im using newer style spindle for the 5 lug conversion

That's how I got my olds ones out,, a few good hits and they came out. But I did presse the new ones in..
