Are the flow tubes welded to the mufflers right out of the box (a-la Flowmaster)? It looks like that muffler's already connected, but I can't tell for sure with the bubble wrap...

you mean the tube that goes from the h pipe to the muffler? no its not, its in the box. that reminds me, should i get a bunch of stop nuts (the kind with plastic in the nut to keep it from backing off) to use in the clamps or will the supplied non stop nuts hold with out me having to get under there and tighten them once a month? we sell the stop nuts at work so i can get them pretty easy.
Might be a few days before i can get the sound clip, i think this flu is going to keep me in doors for a few days. well, the garage is technically in doors...

The included clamps/nuts should be just fine. The only time you'll run into problems with the thing working themselves loose is if you got an X-pipe or H-pipe that doesn't have a transmission crossmember hanger on it. If you bought "The Beast" kit from Pypes with the hangerless off-road X-pipe, you might want to visit your local auto parts store and invest in a couple of universal clamp-on hangers that you can rig up to fit into the stock hanger location(s) to save yourself a lot of headaches later on down the road. Otherwise, I think you should be in pretty good shape. Break out the sawzall, hack that old crap offa there, and get ta' boltin' up the goodies!

Hope yours fits better than mine did.

There was extensive use of the sawsall, torch, hammer and bad language when I put mine on.

Had it all pushed together as far as it would go and one tailpipe stuck out further than the other by about 2 inches!! Had to hack about 1 1/2 inches off that pipe where it went into the muffler (couldn't take the 2" off that I needed because there is a bend just before it goes into the muffler and couldn't cut on the bend) So I had to pull the other pipe out of the muffler about 1/2" to make the tails stick out the same on both sides. Then I didn't have enough pipe into the muffler to use a regular clamp, so I had to go looking for some band clamps!!

Tailpipe hooks weren't long enough to reach the rubber hangers even with the pipe pushed tight up against the bumper. Had to visit 3 parts stores until I found taller rubber hangers that would work.

NONE of the hooks were angled correctly and had to be heated up to bend them in the right positon.

The whole assembly had a belly to it that hung down to about 2 inches off the floor. Had to put a jack under there with a block of wood to get it up closer to the floorpan, then tighten it all up.

Everything that could be wrong with the fit WAS WRONG!!! Worst fitting exhaust I have ever put on a Fox... and I own 4 Capris right now, so I'm no novice to putting exhausts on these cars.

Tons of work and extra parts to get it right, but the sound was amazing when I fired it up. Love the tone and cackle, but MAN... Pypes sure does need to go back to the drawing board before they sell anymore of these.

I wish I could've had an employee from Pypes there in my garage to show them first hand how bad the fit was, because on the phone, all they say is, "We don't have any problems putting them on OUR cars." Hahahahahahahahahahaha.... fertilize the lawn with that crap Pypes, but don't try to blow it up MY ass.

Have you ever worked on exhaust stuff before? No, it will be rusted solid in place within a month (unless the fasteners are stainless), no worries about it backing off, lol.

Nah, I doubt you got the tailpipes reversed, as it's pretty much impossible to get the right on the left side and vice-versa; the FLOW tubes, however, there's a chance you might've gotten those mixed up, since one is longer than the other. Look at the H-pipe or X-pipe you're mounting them onto and you'll see one of the flanges is farther forward than the other one - the shorter one, of course, gets the longer flow tube. But even then, I'm not sure you could really get the two mixed up as I don't think the muffler would even fit up in there if you used the short flow tube on the shorter flange side because it'd be too far forward to tuck up under the chassis.

I'm waiting for the Pypes guy to chime in here and start telling everyone that they're installing their kits wrong and that all of these issues with poor fitment are due to improper installation, or how everyone seems to still be getting this "old stock" of cat-backs and X-pipes because all of their "new" stock is "redesigned."

Sucks because I love the sound of their mufflers, but apparently they can't bend and weld exhaust tubing to fit worth a damn. They need to throw away their current welding jigs and borrow a set from Dynomax - THEIR stuff has ALWAYS fit (for me) - and STOP SELLING THESE "old design" KITS. Either that, or everyone needs to just get in the habit of buying their tailpipes from Dynomax, their flow tubes from whomever (Walker, Flowmaster, or MAC), and buy the mufflers from Pypes, and then piece the whole Frankenstein'ed cat-back together. Seems to be the only way to get a setup that fits right, sounds good, and looks good, anymore. (If Magnaflow didn't have those ass-ugly clamp-on straight-cut tailpipe tips, I'd recommend them above anyone else.)

My pypes catback fit terrible also but I only got it because it as so cheap. I got the special order race pro mufflers with my catback also, I plan on switching to the flowmaster 3" tailpipe setup in the future if I go with the cobra rear bumper cover so it never bothered me much.

Post up the clip, can't wait to hear it.

Yeah, I like the way the Pypes guy blames fitment issues on improper installation, but he would change his tune if I threw the kit I got on the floor and said, "Now YOU install it correctly and watch the circus as he runs into the same problems I ran into. I wish they would just admit there is a problem and correct it. When I dicovered how far from right mine was I talked face to face with a guy at a Pypes vendor at the all Ford Carlisle and he told me I must have gotten a knock off exhaust that had their name on it, because a TRUE Pypes kit fits perfectly. When I told him it came with all the proper literature, stickers and such, he then said it was because their catback won't work with other manufacturers X pipes.... then I told him I bought a COMPLETE kit from the headers back from them and it still didn't fit. I actually ended up using a Mac H pipe I had sitting around because it helped the crappy fit of the rest of the Pypes stuff. I hate to knock them so badly, but they really need to address the problem and stop making up excuses if they don't want to be cut up on the forums. And if the Pypes guy comes in here and questions my ability and opinion, below is a pic of how my set up turned out after all the extensive modification I made to make it fit.

At least with a GT bumper you don't really see the tailpipes, so you don't have to worry as much about them being uneven. With LX tails, I get completely anal about the alignment of those things, and ever since I had to cut up my flow tubes and tails to make those extra-long early-production Pypes Violators fit on there, things have never quite looked right.

Damn, dude, that is one clean undercarriage.

A bunch of folks got on my case last time because I griped about vendors coming into a thread and pimping their wares and such. But the thing that really bugs me more about certain vendors is when they come in and basically try to tell everyone that has a problem with their product(s) that it's always the installers' fault, that their products always fit perfectly when installed "correctly," or they throw out some excuse about how their "old" design was so much different than their "new" design as far as fitment. I won't quite call it outright lying, but it does make the needle of my BS Meter rise quite a bit.

YouTube's pretty easy to post videos on. If a numskull like me can post crap on there, anyone can. Just make your video with Windows Movie Maker or something along those lines, save it into a common format like .WMV (don't use any fancy settings, just the defaults), make an account on YouTube, upload your video(s) with description and keywords, and that's it. Once the videos are available online, you just copy n' paste the links to 'em on here just like any other video.
