When im in 4th or 5th and crusing if I go WOT theres a terrible shudder. The shifter looks like its going crazy..

Hoping that its only a bad plug. Im pretty sure they're the original ones so they're due for replacing.

Well I un-plugged every COP individually to try and figure out which one was the problem. They all seemed to make the car run worse when unplugged (Except one which wasnt as bad as the other 7) which makes me thing that maybe its not a misfire.

I got new plugs anyways Motorcraft SP-493. Should I stay with those or get copper ones?

Is it pulling any codes? Maybe a bad 02 sensor? What the mileage?

Platinum is good for dd without poweradder.

Pulling the COP won't do anything unless the car is misfiring at that exact moment while your under the hood. The way i've had to find bad COP's in the past is go and drive it with my foot in it untill it throws a code. Then use predator to scan and find out which cylinder. Then you can check the plug, or swap plug to another cylinder, see if the mis moves or stays. I know it very crude but you gotta do what you gotta do when your trying to get your car together for a race.

Its still misfiring. So that leads me to believe that maybe a COP is bad.

Ill pull them off again tomorrow while the engine is running and try to figure out which one is bad.

I think it only does it when the engine is under load.

I wish it would throw a code so I know which one it is.

Or find the cylinder, swap the injector to another, then swap the COP to a different cylinder, if the mis moves to that cylinder you found your problem.

Def sounds like a COP though, they go bad alot on these cars.
So go out at a low speed, put in 5th and romp it, stay in it even though you'll cring, after about 10 sec a code should pop up.

Could also be a gummy injector right ? Try dumping 1/2 a bottle of injector cleaner in on a full tank and see if it gets any better.

True, but a gumed injector would also USUALLY rear it's head in other types of driving, like idle and city driving. But hey, injector cleaner is always worth a try.

Just happen to me too. Shifter shakes like crazy on 5th gear , that means missfireing . I had 2 go out since I got accel coil on plugs. Thank god that I bought from brother performance cause then exchange fist one like month ago and I just send one yesterday to have it exchange . In 4 months 2 went bad so I will warn others not to get accel coil on plugs.

I got the problem fixed. I managed to have it set the ses light off. Turns out cyl 7 was misfiring. Went to my buddies house cause he had a few extra COPs and replaced #7 and all is well.

I was actually thinking about getting a set later down the road, so thanks for that.

Yea I know. I was looking at the Accels because they're half the price of the MSD ones.

The accel coil packs that are made for my Saturn are POS' as well, or at least thats what ive been told so I dont even know why I was looking at them lol.

The main complaint on stock COPs that I've heard of is either the spring in there gets broken or the boot cracks and leaks the spark. There is a kit for like 100 bux that has a heavy duty spring and boot combo that is suppose to take care of this problem and keep the spark nice and strong all the way to the plug. I don't think its a "performance" part but it is suppose to keep the COPs working at 100%. I don't know if I could find the link for that anymore but I'll check when I get home from work.

That would be great if you could find it.

One of the boots has a slit in it.
