Hello
ok I have a 99 gt the heads I purchase from PAtriot performance that will come assembled , the block I got from DSS Pro MOdular gt,the person will have to take apart my old motor and basically assemble the new block and put in my car.I think $2700 is a little way too much ??

LOL, k, the heads alone cost several hundred, depending on what they are doing that doesn't seem to be way too much.. You should be more specific, what exactly are they doing?

If they are doing p&p work then that wouldn't be outrageous. IF they are just taking heads off one engine and putting them on another that would be WAYYYY more than you should pay.

Ask them how they arrived at that price - I mean, did they just pull it out of thin air or what? Is this an estimate and will you get an itemized bill when the work is complete? Are they charging an hourly rate? How long will it take them to do this work? For $2700 they ought to be working on it for 40 hours plus!

That wouldn't sound horrible for taking all of your internals out of your motor and installing them into another motor. I do have to ask though, why did you want to use the stock pistons and rods and crank if you are already changing them from one motor to another? I can see that money would be an issue but if you're already spending that much it may be a good idea to go ahead with a new rotating assembly.

I'd rather spend. $1000 on a nitrous system with all the goodies.

What do you need a new block for?

$2700 is just a few hundred less than a new Mach1 (N/A Cobra) engine, complete. Outside of the new ECU and maybe a couple stupid things here and there, you'd have a much more badass setup too.

Yeah I gotta agree with that- why not just swap out to a new complete engine?
