What about the airbox mounting differences? You will have to use an adaptor.

That's correct. This is why the 94-95 MAF can be retrofitted to a fox without a tune.

I thought about this. Actually, I have an extra MAF sensor + tube from my 96 V6. Currently I have a MAF from an 02 in my V6 which seems to work better than the original. I have wondered whether or not the MAF sensor from my 96 would work in my 92. I know the plug is slightly different, but if one could somehow adapt the plug. The wires and voltages are the same. Question is, would it work and would the 5.0 run any more efficiently or better than with the original MAF? I thought it (might) since it's newer and better calibrated. Any ideas here?

The calibration would be different. Mafs and EEC families are matched.

This post should help:
http://www.stangnet.com/mustang-forums/616246-94-95-maf-install-completed.html

IMO, it seems like it would be a lot of trouble just to get a SN95 MAF to work on a Fox. Look around for a used MAF, I just piked up a C&L 76mm w/ a sampling tube for $75.
