Why 331 and not 347?
Another option...

PM returned331 because I was reading a little about piston dwell time and how the longer dwell time of a 347 makes it slightly more prone to detonation. I have a supercharger, so I figured I'd be better off that way.
PM'd on the other thing.

You may or may not need to touch the pistons. Not locked in on the 331 thing. I was reading a thread by a good speed shop owner/builder up here and he was of the opinion that the 331 was the one to go with. FWIW, I'm primarily going with the stroker kit because even with my trick flows, I'd still have to notch the pistons.

If you are buying a quality stroker kit, then you probably won't have to worry about it.
For example, the relief cuts in the Probe pistons I have from Jim, have been cut for standard AND TW valve placement.
Also,
Cam selection is a major factor in getting clearance... and it isn't 'max lift' that you need to be worried about.
(another reason to consider the Jim/Jay option)

I already have a cam. Comp 284hr. It will be too close with the stock pistons. I'm going to get dished pistons with the stroker kit, so I will have plenty of room.
