Well about 6 months ago I had recall work done to my stang when my fan decided to give out. Before the work my car ran at 180 all the time no matter how hot it was. Now the car will creep up when I am at idle or in stop and go traffic. The Fan was replaced by a brand new fan...The fan on the top said it was for the 4.6. Any idea why it would do this? Is there any difference in performance for the 4.6 fan from the stock 5.0? Any fan options that would rid me of this problem? To better help I am running a 347 with a Fluidyne Radiator and a fresh tune up.

Is the fan blowing in the correct direction?? Maybe something was put on backwards or the fan has less volume than a 5.0 fan.

Seems strange they would put a 4.6 fan in.....

when you ran at 180 at all times, did you have a manual or aftermarket fan switch? if not, you were running on straight radiator heat-transfer then right (being it that the low-speed fan does not come on till 208*F or so)?

i read something about some folks saying that the high speed fan no longer worked after the fan recall work - are you sure yours is working (if you have a high speed fan switch you usually keep turned on - maybe now it is inoperable)?

and lastly, are you sure the fan is staying on at all times in stop and go traffic (as opposed to popping the breaker every few mins)?

that is my shotgun of ideas. :)

good luck.
