problem installing convert top

I'm putting my new top on my 94 gt and its actually going well. Everything is done except the actual top. I put the top on the car and went to try and connect the rear cables to line the top up however I have very little play and its impossible for me to connect the cable. I either need to know how to get to the other end of the cable, or if its allright to wire it together giving it about 1/4" of extra play and a little bit of extra wire that could possibly do damage. Any advice on attaching the top to the tacking bars and lining up the bolts in the rear quarters would be appreciated as well. These quarters seem pretty nasty to do. Thanks for the help.

Bump for ya. I haven't had the chance to do mine yet, so IDK what you are talking about.
