:bang: I have a problem setting the timing with my car.

The number keeps jumping from 10-40

I belive its because the spout connecter is stilll pluged in.

when i unplug it (car off)

the car will not start

so i plug it in and then it fires up. But i cant get a good reading because the computer keeps changing everything.

HELP!

well i unplug the wire coming out of the distributer and my car shuts off. I have no idea how to set my timing but i can do a head swap. im going to shoot myself in the face if I cant do this myself.

i might try holding the throttle a little when unplugging the spout (get a friend).....maybe that will keep it alive.

where is your idle set at? codes?
good luck.

Sounds like you are unplugging the wrong wire. The wire is right near the mass air flow sensor (behind air filter). It has a long grey connector, and I think the wire is red, but not sure.

You're not supposed to unplug the wire going into the distributor. The wire that contains the spout plug is attached to the harness that supplies the MAF sensor. Just fish around there and you should see the gray plastic housing.

no wonder it won't start...your unplugging the coil.... :bang: You need to find the Spout on the pass side fenderwell as mentioned...unplug it...start the car, set your timing, snug the bolt, recheck, shut it off, replug the spout...
The car should be warm or up to temp when setting the timing...

You'll get it... :D

he must have been hangin out with fox people - our spout connectors are right off the TFI module on the dizzy. :)

Check the pic....right above where my MAF goes into the fenderwell...that group of wires...you can make out a Gray pc...Thats the spout....you an see a Yellow Zip-tie there....thats holds it when I remove it...no losing that mother...been there done that... :(

hehe ill be trying that tonight... again... Hopefully I'll unplug the right thing for once. LOL

Thanks guys

if i could get a better pic i'd apreciate it..

I think i found it though there are 2 grey box's once small with two red wire coming out of it.

Then there is a big grey box on the bottom.

It's less than an inch big and it plugs in same harness as the MAF and should be just hanging there. :rlaugh: You're killing me with unplugging the coil plug :D
I don't run a spout and lock my timing @ 10 degrees and no detination or pinging anymore.
