Hey guys, I installed an s trim on my car and callled quite a few places to get the car tuned and they all say the same thing to me, they say I need the msd 6btm and the fmu. I was under the impression that if you have the right injectors the fmu was not needed. I also thought that if the car was tuned right then you didnt need the boost retard. How is everyone on here getting their car tuned without this stuff?

A REAL tuning shop can do it without them, there's alot more involved with it so they probably don't know how to really do it or they're just too lazy and want to go the easy way out.

yeah. call another shop. i do not have a btm box nor do i have a fmu. just 42 pound injectors. if you had a btm, you would not need a tune at all. i guess the guy just wants to charge you to do nothing. however, you might want to pick up a msd 6al though. that is the only thing iam lacking. again, the fmu is bullcrap and only good if you have small injectors not capanle, but you have 42 pounders and are good enough. and if you had a btm you would NOT need a tune. the tune will retard boost for you if you go that route. i know this becuase we spent a coule hours on the dyno tryin different crap. i run 42 pounders and a tune. that is all, well except for the mods in my sig

I agree with the guys above. I just had the V1 SC Trim installed. They replaced the 19's with 42's and installed 255 FP no FMU and a Dyno tune. Runs great.

How much are you guys paying to have your cars chipped and is there anything special I need to buy or do I just drop it off and let them do the work?

FMU's are junk cant believe people were telling you to run one. Anyways, my car tuned by a well known shop cost $500 including the sct chip. Well worth the $$

Same here. $500 and chip. From what I've read if your installing a Supercharger
the only way to go is a custom tune. For the price of the SC I was not going to spend the whole summer in the garage trying to get it tuned right myself. Spend the $ on a good tune and enjoy the SC.

The shop i go to chargers 400 bucks total for the dyno runs, labor for any adjustments, and the custom sniper chip. they will take as long as they have to to get it right and run the car on the dyno as many times as they have to. heres a link to the shops website. You can call the guy if you want, he knows me pretty well. ask for paul. my name is carmen

my local dyno books for 150 a hour and they charge 300 for a tune normally takes atleast 4-6 hours..and they will make about 10-15 pulls reburning the chip each time. Stock ignition and fuel supply with a 255lph pump is good for 500hp. you will pick up arouns 10-20 hp with a Custom tune over a BTM box.

For some a 255 intank might not be enough. I managed to run out of fuel at 400 rwhp so I added a anderson big pump inline which is also a 255 and could of made around 500 rwhp like that. Weird, others can manage to make over 500 with just a 255 intake and 42's.

well I went out and bought the btm any way. I figured I could atleast benefit from the hotter spark and rev limiter. Is there a way I might be able to tune this my self?

well now that you bought the btm your not gonna benefit much from a chip. Unless you have other issues such as idle problems and such. Im assuming you have 42 pound injectors, cause if not, you will deffinately need a custom chip. if you do have the injectors and btm, go get on the dyno to check your a/f if you want. Most shops will only charge you around 75 bucks for that. personally i wouldnt worry too much, just pull a spark plug or 2 after u drive a little and check them

if i remeber correctly set timing at 10 degrees and retard boost 1 degree per pound of boost. DOnt quote me on that either becuase m just tryin to remember what it was the tuner was saying. somebody else will chime in shortly im sure. If not start a new thread with the question

Yeah cause all the shops I have called all told me without me telling them what the others had said that they think I will have about 13 pounds of boost with the 2.95 pulley.

i thought when they tune your car with a chip they dont deal with timing but fuel curve. i think its a little more than just timing. i need to get my car tuned at this local shop and they want to charge me 650 is that to much
