Problem w/ hydroboost?

The other night I was reaching for something on the rear floor and unknowlingly used the brake pedal to boost myself further to reach what I was getting at. In the process, I "mashed" the brake pedal as far as it would go and I suddenly heard a grinding/groaning noise and vibration in the pedal. Now I hear a constant grinding noise similar to that made when power steering fluid is needed (especially loud during turning and braking).

What the hell did I do?

Yeah I did that. No leaks or anything of the sort. Im going to have my mechanic look at it this week but I always like to go into a situation like that with at least an IDEA as to what the problem may be.
