I have an adjustable cable and aftermarket quadrant with no firewall adjuster. The cable adjusts on the trans side with 2 nuts. So far I haven't had any issues with it. The stock quadrant and cable should work fine if it is in good condition.

New OEM cable with stock quadrant if it's in working order... otherwise get a cheap quadrant and firewall adj - but still with OEM cable

If you're breaking that many clutch cables, there's something wrong with the clutch install, not the cables. My bet would be that the bearing retainer that the throwout bearing rides on is galled up and not allowing the bearing to slide freely, or whoever installed it didn't lube it before they buttoned it up. Either way, go to the Ford dealer and get yourself a factory cable. That is the only one worth a hill of beans.
