problem with getting a recall done

I checked at a local ford/dodge dealer and had them run my vin #. they said it wasn't in the system and couldnt find it. anyone know what is up with this. can you not check the recall history on a 92 mustang anymore? I wanted to see if i needed any recall work done. specifically the ignition switch.

They are lying like a snake... Try the Mercury dealer or a Ford Dealer in another city.

As far as I know, the company must fix any recall, regardless the age of the car.

I don't think they're lying.
I do think something might be wrong with their system though

Recall work is part of dealer work life plus we could pop one of those ignition switches in about five minutes or less and they are dirt cheap.

We as dealer mechanics get paid for working on recalls so every job that gets written up counts.

There has been times when the system has been wrong about a recall being done.
So when we have doubts we do it again just to be safe.
