I got my ultralite 50 oz alloy romac today, I tried installing it but it only goes on about an inch and then stops. We tried heating it up but it still wouldnt go on any more. Inside the balancer bore they machined two different size diameters with the back section being too tight, hence the balancer only going on part way and then stopping. Anybody had problems like this or have an idea what I should do?

thanks

Drew

Did you actually bake it? I dont have a Romac but have read of the serious tight fit with them (some guys bake the balancer and freeze the crank snout).

I think Jason runs one and he might still be on here - maybe he will see this and chime in. The part about two different ID's would kinda scare me, like it has you.

Good luck.

You probably should give romac a call. See what they say.

My buddy has also had problems with these and other balancers. This is why he'll only use Ford motorsport and Ati balancers

My 50oz romac went on my stock crankshaft pretty easily with the install tool. My 28oz romac was a HUGE pain in the ass installing onto my scat crankshaft. You have to make sure its aligned 100% with the groove then keep trying with the install tool. I had to bake mine in the oven and boil it in water to finally get it on. The things we do to save a little bit of rotating weight.
