Not sure what "Grey thing" you're talking about. But the E-Z ties are the same as Zip ties.

This ought to help you out Speedcal install directions with color photos

One plastic piece goes insde the connector so the metal contacts don't fall out. The scotch lock is so the speedcal gets power from the back of the cigarette lighter.

This is the LATEST update guys.
First, regarding the Gray Scotch connector. I didnt use it , because to be honest i didnt really know how to fit it in there by the cig lighter. BUT i just connected it to the red Hot wire and the SpeedCal was powered fine. I mean DO I "HAVE" to use that scotch connector???

Second, after installing it all , I took the car for a run , and i think the Speedometer is still off, like it used to before!!!! I mean if i did the installation wrong the Speedometer wont work at all , right??
the only thing i might have done wrong is the Number i need to adjust on the speedcal which are 1001001000 for the 3.73 swap. and i did that....so why is my speedo still giving wrong digits!!!!???

thanks

Relax dude,Take a deep breath. Scroll down in this link Click Here .

Look at the 5th picture where the guy is holding wires and a "red connector" in his hands. That's the same as you grey connector, only the one they are using is red. You have to remove some of the factory electrical tape from the cigarette/power point outlet wiring and tap into it. The hot lead ( or positive wire) is the Blue wire with thw white stripe. I've got to get back to work, but I'm sure you'll be able to figure it out. Just take your time and you'll be fine.
