alright so the passenger side window got broken out before i got my car and i think somehow it may have broken the window motor, now i am trying to replace the motor but i cant get to it! i have an 86 lx with no speaker hole in the dorr so i cant get the motor out that way, as soon as i took off the door panel i realized that there was this metal slab that was riveted on over the top of the wondow motor, which stopped me from getting to the motor, has anyone replaced the window motor and run into these problems? i was wondering what i should do about it, i really want to replace my motot but damn i cant get to it

thanks for any help
jerry

Not sure about that metal slab, but on my car I loosened the 2 bolts holding in the motor ,cracked the motor from the door, and slipped it out from the speaker hole. There IS a hole in the door itself for the speaker, right? Your car should be the same I think.

uhh i cant remember if there is a speaker hole in my door or not, there may be i will check when i get to my garage tomorrow. but one more thing arent there some wires that hold the door motor in, because when i felt around i think i saw two wires running from the botom of the door motor to somewhere( i couldnt find where they ran) so if they do have the wires how do i take it out and when i put the new motor back in how do i connect the wires and bolt it into place, if it is soo hard to get too? thanks for all the help guys

I had no problems, but I took it out of the speaker hole in my 88. You prolly dont need a new motor. You can buy the regulator kit, or just buy the three plastic balls for under a buck. Look at the similar threads at the bottom of this page or do a seach on window motors and you will get much info and pics.
