I'm driving down the highway cruising at 65ish, trying to use as little gas as possible(91 is $3.35!) And I see headlights coming up fast. I recognize them as camaro lights, and stick in in 4th real quick and wait for him to get next to me.
As soon as he does I drop it in 3rd and shoot ahead about a car and let off, seeing if he's going to play, he speeds up real quick and gets next to me and I wait for him to take off, and when he does I hit it and wind out 3rd ahead by about a car, then I shift to 4th, and when I let out the clutch(or try at least) the backend of the car starts shaking BAD, so I push the clutch in, take it out of 4th, then try it again, same thing. So I slow down, take the next exit, and pull into a parking lot.

I take a look at the rear end, and see some gear oil on the gas tank, but no dripping. I open the hood to see if everything is fine and it shook my intake pipe off where it turns to go into the fenderwell. Put it back on, tightened the clamp, everything fine. I drive off, go through all the gears, works like before. I get on it in 3rd again, not winding it out this time, and shift to 4th, then to 5th, and its all good.

Everything seems to be working fine now, and it got me home, but I just cant figure out wtf happened :fuss:

Anyone have any ideas?

These are the specs on the driveline
8.8"
Aluminum DS
31 spline 5 lug axles
3.55 gears
Auburn diferential and a t/a diff cover

:damnit:

if it's not dripping, maybe it's gotta sit for a while and you'll see some dripping like overnight, or maybe it only leaks when the driveshaft is turning, at the u joint, did u tighten the 12mm 12point bolts around the driveshaft to the rear good enough?? (when putting in the alum driveshaft)

As the car sits is the way I bought it last week, all the work done on it isnt from me. But I'll be sure to check that out when I get it in the air :nice:

The symptom you describe sounds like it was due to the intake coming partially undone. If the TB is taking in air through your intake pipe AFTER the MAF, then your car's computer will read the situation as though there is little or no air flowing in (since no air is being sucked past the MAF). So the computer shuts stuff down, or makes adjustments to keep you from blowing up the engine. Of course those adjustments are incorrect because while the computer thinks the engine is getting no air, it actually is getting plenty of air.

When this happens, the shut off can feel quite violent and disruptive, like something horrible has gone wrong. I know, because I had my CAI falling off at the TB, and experienced a similar cut out. Once I put it back together - no issue.

Just my thick headed thought.

Oh, and I would check out the fluid level in the rear end if you are seeing signs of a leak (regardless when it seems to be happening). The car's new to you, and you don't know how long it's been puking fluid.
