alright i did a search and no answers...so im hoping someone will see this and figure it out.

"when i'm stopped i have to force it into gear, it doesn't matter which one it won't go in(sometimes i can but its really difficult). When moving its not that bad but is very notchy. It does not grind or slip at all; just won't go in or is a pain to get in gear. Sometimes I notice when shifting at low rpms 2500 or lower i can here a thud from the rear end(might be unrealated) . Also if i get on it and shift at around 5500rpm i can smell burnt clutch."

that is from a post i found from like last month. im having the exact same problem. my clutch is adjusted properly and i thought that would get rid of the problem but it didnt. im thinking its the clutch forks....but that wouldnt explain why the car wants to roll forward when im stopped with the car in gear and clutch all the way in.....someone help me before i drive this thing into the river

If it rolls forward with the car stopped, then you have the clutch cable too tight and you still have it partially engaged. But when you have the pedal depressed and it still wants to move (after you are 100% sure the cable is taught), then the pressure plate isn't pushing itself far enough back to release the clutch disc. Also misaligment of the clutch disc can have a few problems associated with this but not many.

so what youre saying is i need to loosen the cable. i thought i had to tighten the cable to get it to release more....maybe im wrong? there is almost no play at the top of the pedal after i adjusted it earlier today....it gets stiff about 1 inch from the top, maybe less.

You're right, tighten takes the slack out, loosen creates slack. Sounds like you;re having early symptoms of pressure plate/clutch failure. How old is the clutch?

Neither did mine even though the throwout bearing got shredded to pieces and the pressure plate rusted up pretty bad. Do you seriously smell the clutch while driving, just taking off, between gears?

how much freeplay is in your cable? dial out any freeplay and see what it does.
