Has anyone else had a whole lot of trouble installing a new catback system?

I bought 2.5" flow tubes, a new set of 2chamber flows (had to have an exhaust shop cut off outlet and weld in small outlets) and bassani tailpipes. All parts were bought from different people/places. No matter how i place the flow tubes, the mufflers want to rub against the frame rail whenever i get my tailpipes lined up perfectly.

I can finish installing all of it now, but my tailpipes won't line up very well at all... i want them to look perfect.

Anyone else have this problem and live with semi-crooked tailpipes??

The problem is you don't have a catback system -- you have a big mixture of parts. You won't get perfect alignment like that.

Each company does a little different design work to make their stuff fit the way they want -- so to get a good fit like you want, you'll probably need all one company's parts.

I had a hard enough with my friends MAC headers and headman H-pipe install, so I can imagine how your install is going. You should be able to fudge a little bit of leeway at the ball/socket exhaust connections, but you will have a hard time getting it perfect. If you hook everything up loosely, have a friend hold the hardware in place, and tighten slowly and evenly, you may have a chance. Good luck, I can feel your pain dude.

I got a deal on all my parts, they ended up costing me under $400 (canadian). Tail pipes are 2.5" to 3" chrome tips and they're bassani.. so i'll live with it for now i think! Sure does piss me off though.
