I've never seen this before but maybe someone can shed some light. We put this stock '85 intake on an '87 and where the EGR ports are in the middle of the head where the intake gaskets go and the intake mounts up....when the intake is bolted down there's about 3/16 of that EGR port showing....it's like the intake sits down too far in between the heads. Has anyone ever had this problem? Know any tricks to fix it (aside from a newer intake...he's in a bind and needs to use the stocker if possible)? I didn't think there was that much difference between the E5 and E7 heads but apparently there are.

From what I remember, that is normal. There have been posts about this before (if not here, it was from another forum). Just put it together and run it, you won't have any problems.

I freaked out when I saw that on mine (I have an 85 carbed) and found it was nothing. Let me go double-check tomorrow.

Yeah a guy over on carbdford.com told me the same thing...i'm still skeptical...that just seems like a big problem..lol. We've almost got it ready to fire up so we'll see.
