Problems with SCT Custom Chip

I installed my mail order SCT custom tune chip yesterday. Took it out for a test drive and the o/d light began turning on and off. This caused the car to buck when I was decelerating because the RPM's were bouncing around. Shortly thereafter the check engine light came on. The connections were very clean. I've installed it, test drove, unistalled it and cleaned it 4 times with the same results every time. Anybody have a suggestion what the problem could be? Thanks.

who tuned it for you???? i recommend everyone stay away from mail order chips, since for almost the same price you could have a SCT chip burned for you based on dyno runs and street analysis.

Modular Depot. I don't have any local SCT tuners so this was my only option to getting a SCT tune.

Better give them a call, that is definitly the only way your gonna get this fixed. Sure they will have to send you a replacement or something.

Had the same problem with my first chip but not as bad. Not many people are good at tuning autos right. Reburn fixed all my troubles, they had got a newer version of software aparently (this was 3 years ago though)

Automatics are more difficult to tune than 5 speeds. I recently had mine dyno tuned by Jerry W of SCT. It took several test drives before they got rid of all the SES lights.

Are the contacts copper in color? Both sides? Many people think they are getting them clean and they are not. Your symtoms sound as if they are not clean. If that still doesn't work, you can send the chip back and we will double check your tune.

Well just as KenB suggested on the Depot my ground wire on the ECU wiring harness was broken off. I reconnected the wires, hopefully that will be the answer to my problems. Cross your fingers for me. I'm about to go for a test drive at 1:24 AM. My neighbors love me

Just got back. So far no check engine light or o/d light flashing. RPM's still seem to bounce a little on deceleration around 1500 RPM but other than that car is running great. The sputtering I can live with. It's the lights that drive me nuts. Hopefully all will stay good. Can't wait to see what kind of #'s she'll put down with the SCT tune.
