Problems with the power window.

I got my 05' last Wednesday, and I am very impressed with it's performance and handling, but there are a couple of glitches already.

On the passenger side, the window extends into a plastic trim piece to seal off the door. When the door latch is engaged, it drops down about 1/4" so the door could be opened. When the door is closed, the glass automatically goes back up 1/4" to seal the door off again. Th driver's side window isn't doing this.

When you are sitting inside with the door closed, you can use the button to fully raise the window, and it will drop down like it is supposed to when you open the door. When you close the door back, it just stays down that 1/4". This definitely presents a weather and security problem. I guess I'm headed to the service department.

Another thing that concerns me is when you let the windows down all the way, the driver's side makes a pretty harsh "thunk" when it bottoms out, but the passenger side does not.

BTW: My Shaker 1000 CD player skips too.

Something is not right. My concern involves tinting them, dont know how they will do it. Is there going to be a gap at the bottom or at the top?

I looked in the manual to see if this function can be dis-engadged, its not clear to me though, may have to read it again. When the window has snow and ice on it and you open the door it breaks free, not a very good sound

It will depend on the tint shop you go to but make sure you tell them that they go down on there own and they should be able to handle that. I tinted the windows on a mini once and had to redo the doors on it after I shut them up.

There's a procedure in the owners' manual that shows how to recalibrate the window.

None of this should be a problem. Many cars have had this feature for years (Porsche, T-bird, for example) so, I'm sure if this feature was a problem in either of those ways, it would have the glitches worked out or the feature would have been eliminated.

I recalibration procedure, huh? Sweet. That will make life a little better.

Even on the side that works properly, you have to slowy open the door, or it will slightly hit that trim peice. It may be a little detail now, but I wonder how it will act after doing that a few hundred times.

with the door closed, put the windows all the way down, then hold the switch for an additional two or three seconds. Then put it all the way up, and hold for an additional two or three seconds.

Let me know if this is wrong, it's from memory. I'll try to find the write up about this soon.
