Procharger install / tune, Shop price

Super chargers are ... pretty much considered a bolt on. i wouldnt pay some one else to do it its pretty straight forward.

7200 is a rip if you ask me. especially since the procharger kit costs around 4000. So they would be charging you 3200 for labor (yes dyno tuning is labor). It wouldnt be so bad if the instal would take more then a day for them.

If you can do a brake job on your car you can put a supercharger on. Its that simple. Prochargers are slightly easier too because you dont have to tap the oil pan. You can also get the new vortech v3 that has a internal oil resvoir also if you so choose. If you are a little uncomfortable with the instal just re-search it a little and you will see how easy it is. For the average backyard mechanic it takes about 2 days.

Who is this shop you are dealing with anyway?

holy sh1t dude just install it yourself! You don't even have to tap the oil pan with that kit!!!

It is pretty easy to install. I got my kit from jms chip and performance. It was like 4500 with a bunch of extras and a tune. I ended up getting a custom tune from a local shop anyways but you can use their tune if you want. So for the price of the blower plus 500 bucks you can install it yourself and have them tune it for you.

That labor quote is insane! If you are extremely lazy and have a lot of money, by all means pay for it. If I had the money I would have paid someone.

I did mine myself. I'm not lazy nor wealthy, so I didn't have a choice.

Took me 14 hours total. The most difficult parts are getting the pulleys lined up and the plumbing for air flow bolted up. If you remove your front bumper cover it will save you A LOT of headache. Either way, you are looking at a weekend to do it.

If i were you i would go buy a kenne bell supercharger. They are only 5k and they are much more torkier than a centrifugal because you get instant boost. Most people find the kenne bell more simple than a vortech, but i think there about equal. You also get a really good tune from kenne bell.

$7,200 is a rip offfff!!! Put it in yourself. Better know how to put it on so when it breaks you can fix it yourself. What is that about $3000 for install. That's about the total that i spent on my Vortech piecing it all together. Im in the bay ill install it for you for $7,200. Seriously though i would do it yourself.

See if you can call around because that seems alwful pricey. As many people say install it yourself its a great idea, but if you are totally afriad of it, call to some other shops if there are any. My shop charges $150 a hour for tuning. They say 2 hours is the normal time for a tune. So thats $300, so $2700 for install on the blower? no way jose

Actually thats not quite right. He is paying

About $500 in Sales tax
Procharger (estimate could be more) $4500
Tune $500
Labor $1700

For a total of
$7200 out the door like he mentioned.

Because he lives in CA and is buying the parts from him he has to pay Sales tax on the labor as well. If he brings in his parts the Sales tax is not included on the labor, so its up to him on what he decides. Either save a few bucks and buy the kit your self and skip sales tax on the labor, or pay it and know that you will have a warranty along with it that the shop will handle if you have any issues. Its all up to you.

But honestly i would say rebuild that engine for 7k and get all forged internals, cams heads and a new intake system and you can be anywhere from 300-400hp depending on what compression ratio you go with. The lower the compression the better chance you have of running big boost later on.

I know a good shop you can go to in the bay area, they took care of me and they provided an excellent tune and are still doing wonders after i left. They have revised my tune for me on the fly because i rebuilt my engine. I don't know many tune shops who would do that.

He'll do what he can to hook you up good, Just send him a friendly e-mail you would be surprised how much that can help. He actually is the one who handles the tunes and installs.
