Procharger intake question

Im thinking of buying the intercooled procharger system, and i was looking at some pics of it installed and i noticed that it mounts in the same spot where the intake would mount, i've heard that the procharger system comes with its own intake and if thats true how well does it perform, meaning does it actually pull air in or is it crap?

the intake locaton does suck.. but its going through the intercooler so it cools the air.. I will either not worry and get a better hood or find another way to route it better.. either way theres tons of hp

thanks for the info, yeah im planning on getting the california dream ram air hood so i can get some more air back to the intake seeing as how the intake is mounted towards the back of the engine compartment.

Zig,

I have a ProCharger with that intake on my 05. I installed the ProCharger after I got my Cal Dream hood installed and painted...big mistake. You're going to have to cut the 'air box' part so it will close. I'll take pics when I get home tonight to show you what I mean.

It wasn't too hard to get it to fit. The hardest part was cutting into a brand new, freshly painted hood...ooh that's rough.

I had to notch the front opening in the Street Scene fascia too to make room for the intercooler tubing. Everything looks great now though!

Also, a word of warning: the ProCharger kit tacks on quite a bit of weight to the front end of the car, thus lowering it more. I have a set of Eibach springs (ProKit) and now the front wheels are almost tucked. Looks great, but came as a shock when we drove it into my driveway the first time after the install....

Here are some pics from my install. Don't turn away from the Cal Dream hood just because it needs a tiny notch cut into it. Look at the pics, it's really nothing.

The Cal Dream hood is one of the nicest fiberglass hoods I've ever seen. It's got a great finish underneath and looks very factory.

Great pics.. do you have more with the hood closed... also looks like that have the air being funnled to were the air filter used to be. How come you filed the side of the vent opening insead of the back? I still dont know if there would be enough air getting to the procharger filter... hummmm..

I notched it because that's where the ProCharger pulley ends up. The ProCharger sits right there and the pulley was rubbing on that inlet. It's not for better airflow. I'm resigned to the fact that the ram air is pretty useless now, but oh well.

Those are some awsome pics Kris. I would like to see it with the hood down also. I've never noticed this before, but look in the second picture you put up. At the hood latch, it looks like two eyes looking at you. Wonder if they designed it that way.

thanks again Kris, when u said cut the hood i was thinking like major surgery here but thats not too bad, im still stuck between whether or not to get the california dream hood or the GTR ram air hood.

will the gtr hood get air to the procharger filter? I like the look of the cal dream hood.. but if kris is right about the ram air not going to do anything for us.. then I dont know about blowing that money for it... but it looks sweet though.. I'm lost

The Cal Dream hood probably makes for better induction, but if you really want to split hairs, no hood is going to do much good. Only time you get good results from a ram air hood is at really high speeds.

Frankly, I bought the hood for looks.

Yea going for looks alone the california dream hood is sick, but based on the positioning of the intake (back of engine compartment) it looks like the GTR hood will get the air there.
