A couple of guys on here like bigcat suggested that I lower the Procharger intercooler. I decided to do it today.

I pulled the front fascia, fabbed up a new top intercooler bracket out of 1/8'' aluminum only 2'' longer than the steel one. Did the same thing for the driver's side bracket and I was able to bend and reuse the passenger side bracket. Very easy job. If you have a Procharger, not only does it look menacing, but it will grab much more air.

Much nicer looking! Have you taken it out for a SOTP test yet?

(I mean between the original intercooler mounting and the "adjusted" postion)

I can't really say if I notice a power increase, but cooler air is a huge plus. It has to help for sure.

It took a couple of hours taking my time making sure everything was fitting properly. The fascia is easy to get off and on if you know the drill.

I'm considering a Procharger

How long did it take to install or appproximately what can I expect to pay for an install? I've read good things about the Procharger. Can you still have an 87 octane tune with a supercharger and make 400+- hp?

It took about 12-13 hours in the garage. I don't believe it comes with a low octane tune. You could have a tuner who knows what he's doing knock the timing back for whatever octane you want. I suggest a dyno tune with any blower.

The answer is no. There is no tuner in the world that will "tune" your car for 87 octane WITH a blower so you can save 20 cents a gallon.

Yes there is and yes they have. If you want a 87 or 89 octane tune there is no reason a good tuner wouldn't do it for you. I had a 89 tune for my old WRX for "winter" gas and for when I couldn't find anything better. Besides, why wouldn't they? More tunes = More money.

Then you're getting your tune for a stupid tuner. Name me ONE car that comes from the factory with forced induction that runs 87 octane? It's just not SAFE. And your tuner should be doing a SAFE (ie street) tune. It's just a rediculous idea to save 3 bucks every fill up.
