I said id stop after I wasn't spending money from parting out my wrecked car and the ins money from it . lolGonna play the hard to get girl huh? I see how it is. I never really thought the big investors would really divulge the numbers but I'm surprised that some are.
I keep telling myself that I won't let my build get out of hand financially but It's looking like $10k is unavoidable for me for my project. It's kind of like playing the stock market, there is no loss until you sell.

I went into it knowing it would never be worth what I had in it. I didn't do it for an investment or to impress anyone. I did it because horsepower is my only addiction (if you don't count the V) and I can never get enough of it. That car was like mainlining narcotics. Best rush I've ever had!
Obviously, I'm not thrilled about selling the car. It was paid for. It didn't cost me a dime to sit in my garage... I would've kept it forever. But my family had $12k worth of unplanned unavoidable financial crises pop up in a two week time period last month so the car had to go. (I didn't have $12k in savings) It's sad to see it go, but I'm glad I was able to take care of my family.
One thing I learned is that I'll never build another car like that again. Funny Car Cage, C16 only, etc. From here on out, my Mustang projects will be more street oriented. Note- I did drive that car on the street, even with the funny car cage and c16, far more on the street than on the track. It just wasn't practical. You might think I'm crazy for even mentioning the word "practical", but my 2011 5.0 is a 10-second daily driver with power everything which gets 24mpg in the city. THAT is practical.

Dude, i can't imagine spending that kind of cash on a fox. Just for curiosity sake, care to break down the costs for each aspect? I think it would give us peasants a better look into where the money goes when building an ungodly awesome car like yours

after building mine and knowing the cost,i would probably pay more than the average guy for a clean car like that!Sorry to hear about the hard times. It happened to me as well. Had to sell my 87vert for about 30% of what I had in to it years back. Did you see this other local Fox Body for sale. Similar story- has about $40k into it trying to get $15k. Nice build as well.

That's exactly why I love when people pop up on here saying I'm gonna make 1,xxx horsepower with my dart block, t4 turbo and a c4. Sure it CAN be done but the associated cost is just a snowball that people don't realize. And my car will probably not have 1/3 the money in itFor example: Just the blower and gear drive hanging off the front of my engine is 10k. I have 4,500$ in just cylinder heads. Add the block, crank, billet rods, custom pistons etc. Factor is 1,400$ fuel injectors 1,000$ in a throttle body setup, Xfi with all of the upgrades and we are only scratching the surface. If I remember correctly the torque converter was 1400 some dollars not to mention the dedenbaer case powerglide. We haven't even stopped talking about the drive line yet. Where should I stop hahaha
Lol. Easy.To be honest i can't see 100k into one of these cars...maybe 50 or 60k, but 100k? Where is all the money going? (assuming all the work is done by the owner save for machine shop work and whatever else.

What I find funny is the fact that I've gone out of my way to cut costs. Sometimes I came out ahead, others not so much. I have around $10k in it at the moment and you all know where I'm at. Couldn't even get $5500 out of it.
Life lesson: buy something done or close to it and make what you want. I'll never do another ground up build. I'll get something that runs and do it in small steps to keep it running and driving.
