I have a 351 that I need to replace the ignition system on, not using the stock EEC-IV anymore. Has anyone used or have any good information on the Proform HEI Distributor? It is very similar to GM models. Looks pretty neat for a DD..... Let me know what you think.

For those that are curious, I went with the Proform. It seems to work well although I haven't been able to really put it through its paces yet....still waiting on a tag.

Otherwise, it is basically a GM HEI style distributor with a ford shaft on the end. It seems to work well and took me about 15 minutes to drop it in, run the wire, and get it running good. I no longer need the computer and it runs like a top

Very good to hear your experience LB. I've actually recommended people take a look at the HEI style distributors in the past when trying to do away with the Duraspark or converting to carb, versus going the MSD route. They look very attractive to me just based on price alone, since they're a self-contained ignition system that needs essentially nothing to make them work except a 12v power source, and cost a fraction of what it would take to pick up an MSD.

I have a no name ebay hei dizzy i got brand new for $60 on my tow rig...f350 with a carb'ed 460. I converted the duraspark to this setup and i love it just for the simplicity. one wire and your running. also if the coil ever goes any parts store should have a gm hei cap but might not have a duraspark box. just somthin to thing about...i give mine a :nice:
