Ok how the heck do I get this shift light of mine to work. I have had it for years and it has never really worked. What am I connecting it to. I have a digital 6 and the tach adapter PN# 8920.

I have a Digital 6 on my carbed 82. I have both the stock dash tach and the standalone Proform shift light connected to the Digital 6 tach output. I connected the Proform wire and the stock tach signal wire in the engine bay, on the drivers side, near where the Duraspark box lives. It's still there, but just riding along.

Worked fine! I acutally bought an MSD tach adapter when I ordered the box, and was happy not to need it.

It just doesn't make sense to me. The green wire from the shift light is connected to the white wire coming from the tach output on the digital 6 box. I figured that was what they want but still no worky.

Can I just run the green wire to the negitive side of the coil and the red wire to the positive side?

I had the proform light before...isnt it just three wires...Green (tach input), White (power), and Black (ground)?

I hooked the white to the ignition Switch (when the ignition was in the "run" position) and the black to a good chassis ground. Does the light come on at all when the car is started?

When the car starts the light turns on then off. Come to think of it lately it isn't doing that anymore. When I put the car to bed for the winter it was still doing it. This spring it isn't. At the end of the summer last year however a few times the light came on and stayed on. I was no where near the rpm point that activates the light. I'm going to have to do some more investigating. Make sure power is still being supplied and I guess check the bulb.

Check everything but the Proform shift light has been known to be Junk. Jegs had batch after batch that had bad circuit boards so don't be surprised if it is fried.

I would not be surprised. this thing hasn't ever worked. what a waste of money. which stand alone is good for a reasonable price.

The real thin MSD one is a pretty nice piece. It is about as big around as a nice pen.

Its the newest one. It is all digital and doesnt require pills.

I see they make 2 of these pen led stand alone units. One is 150 bucks one is 170+ bucks. They look identical and the same right up on them what the heck is the difference.

Well It turns out the ground was faulty. I fixed that and it all works. Start with the basics.
