Progress pics of K member install and engine re-assembly

Well, I got the K member in and found I had clearance issues with my 17X9 wheels due to the custom backspacing I had done when I had them built. So I had to run a 5/16th spacer up front... BUT my stock studs were too short so I had to get longer ones. My dad and I knocked out the old studs and installed the 3" moroso ones. All fixed right??? NOPE! Now my close ended lugs are about a 1/16th" too short and bottom out right before tightening down the wheel. No problem, I have a set of open ended ones, those should fix that problem right??? NOPE... the shank is longer than the wheel is thick and they bottom out on the rotor before tightening up on the wheel.

So, I figure if I cut about a 1/4" off my new studs I should be good to go with the closed ended set of lugs which is good, and luckily they have a 1/2" of a non-threaded end on them. As for the open, I'll either cut them a little or buy new ones. Anyway, with all those setbacks I still managed to get a good bit done. I installed the lower intake that I powdercoated and put on my water pump I painted. I got a little over a week to get it finished. I will also have to adjust the tie-rod ends and the wheels are not pointing straight with the new setup... I think the A arms were a little shorter than stock. Anyway, here's some pics, they make me feel like I am accomplishing something.

At least your motor is in there, mine is in a ton of pieces... some of them not even purchased yet!

Its stories like yours that make me dread Fing with the K-member and suspension.

I wouldn't have had any issues (at least I don't think I would have) if I didn't have custom made wheels. Jason's K members are TOP NOTCH (PA RACING) and he has been helpful in aiding me to get this thing in and ironed out.

I am running out of time though to get the car together. It was recommended to me on another site that I call on the folks at "overhauling" to come and help me thrash on the car until its done. Luckily Courtney and I are tight as you can see!!!

man looks like a lot of work. is the k memeber powder coated silver? it looks nice. better than just plain ol black.

so what did that k memeber set you back? if you don't mind me asking.

Hey Killercanary, those studs are long -looks like the capped lug nuts will bottom out on those, also the A-arms look a little shorter than stock, you might have to adjust the tie rod ends to get the wheels to point straight.

Just kidding Looks like a lot of fun!

Whatcha up to? Just the K-Member I take it for reduced weight and a run at 11's?

I don't come on here as much any more...but some of the cars, such as yours, still intrigue me. After all, you car was one of the inspirations to do my setup.

Wow, everything is looking good Paul. I did my D&D k member setup over the winter and ran into the same deal with the A arms. When I first saw both wheels pointing in, I was like ok, what did I do wrong now? No big deal, just unexpected.
Maybe you covered this already in another post but I've been away from stangnet for awhile.
What springs did you end up going with? I got the 14" 175lb springs. Also, Is that a dynabatt battery or something similar? I was thinking of going that route then I did the relocation instead.

Seeing how good your engine bay is gonna look when finished reminds me how bad I've been neglecting my car.

Can't wait to see what gains a proper suspension and weight loss are gonna do at the track.

Good deal man, I finished my AJE up this weekend (4.5 hrs solo). She fit like stock, and everything is as it was with the stock piece in the car.
