Oh yeah, the Eraser wheel. That is what I keep forgetting to ask for at my paint supply store everytime I am there. I saw a guy using one at this collision shop. It work well with the vinal graphics he was taking off.

Well.....next Hack Job project I do.......Just kidding, no more projects like this for me!

I hear ya on the projects, sometimes they can be a pain, but in the long run I would not have life any other way. I just finished up my 91 coupe. I parted out a 91 GT, kept the motor, rear end, suspension and a lof of other goodies from it for my 86 model 4cyl conversion. It will be a project to say the least

I agree 100%. I wouldn't change a thing I did on it, but next project will be an original v8 car that just needs a quick repaint/body work, and some tune up stuff to make a quick $1,000 or 2.

While I am happy it is getting close to completeion, I am getting kind of sad that it is so close to being finished as well. I have put 8 months of my life in this car, and when it's done I'll be like....what's next???

Yeah you can't just use regular old double sided tape. 3M makes this stuff that's stronger than rivets....i saw it on Modern Marvels and i'm fairly sure it's the stuff he used. You basically will have to use a guitar string to get the moldings off.

Let me know the name of it if you find out. Sounds like something I can find a use for in the future.

1st coat. It went on really well. I am very nervous because I just installed the Devilbiss rebuild kit in my gun. It is spraying fricking awesome, and I have been used to it spraying really bad. Also...I have never done an entire job in this single stage paint. It looks rough at first, then it seems to flow pretty well. I am never happy with the first coat, so no close ups.... I am anxious to see it after 3 and maybe 4 if I ahve enough paint.

Wow - 1st coat and the color is popping like that? Can't wait to see the 2nd coat sprayed on.
Just out of curiosity, why aren't you throwing clear on it?

:edit: I think you already explained why you aren't using clear....I just can't remember why

Just layed the second coat. Much better. It is looking good, and of course I am still wetsanding it this week. You really have to be carefull with this paint. I put one small run on the drivers side door and the right rear quarter well. They will wetsand out, but I should have waited longer between coats. It says 10 minutes, I am waiting 20 this time.

2nd coat...Sorry for the crappy pics. They won't come out better with all the fumes in the air. I have the exhaust fan running the whole time.

Thanks everyone. It's no big deal posting in between, I have to wait a while between coats. I think this is the first and last time for the single stage. It is good and all, but if I used base clear, I would have been outta here by now.

5-10 more minutes for the 3rd coat. I will get one or two more pics with close ups. Some areas are coming out better than others. I love painting but at the same time I hate it, because you never know what can happen/go wrong.

3rd coat. All done. I still have a lot of paint left. I didn't do the front bumper cover because it needs to be sent out to get stripped. I didn't get a chance to do it this week. Overall, I am happy it is painted, and I am happy with how it came out. This coming week will be wetsanding and rubbing time.

Here ya go. Time to go home and rest!!

I am pretty happy how it laid down. This paint dries super slow and it keeps geting smoother everytime I look at it. Can't wait to hit it with 1500 and 2000 and rub it out!!
