I'm starting to build a 1967 G.T.500E complete with gauges, shift knob, everything else. It's going to be a near-perfect replica. The '67 fastback I bought is being delivered Sunday. I need to know where to get a few parts...
For now: Driver's door and roll bar.

Thanks,
Mike

Saline, Michigan. It's near Ann Arbor. If you have no clue where that is, its about 45 minutes from Detroit

a clone of a clone of a fuax version of a classic. Nice!

Seriously though, most of the stuff can be found in catalogs since they're becoming so popular. Alot of the stuff can also be found in the ads in the back the magazines. Good luck.

Thanks. I found California Mustang to be a very good site...have to take a closer look at the others though.

I know how Eleanor clones are looked down upon by some but it is my dream car. And to get it respected I am putting in Eleanor everything...steering wheel, shift knob, gauges, intrument panel, seats, pedals, NOS switch, the works. I'll post some pics Sunday when my fastback gets delivered and some more along the way.

Or just ask me because I've already bought everything and I'm probable one of the few people that actually wanted to be as movie correct as possible.

I even found the company that made exact Nitrous switch and go-baby-go pieces, then went and got my eleanor board members a group buy on it.

I'm just getting the bodywork done now.
Hate to tell you, but you're definitely not the first.

I don't think i'm the first and I really don't care. This is a car i've always wanted and am going to build. Yes, I'm making it the best replica possible and no, I don't give a **** if you hate Eleanor copies (302 Coupe). Thanks for the help and I will be sure to talk to you (El1nor) for some of my Eleanor-specific parts needs.

EDIT: Ronstang, the difference between me and the many people that have and will replicate Eleanor is that I am replicating it down to the floor mats and everything interior and exterior.

LMAO.... 99% of the people here are unimaginative. There are a very select few that actually go and MAKE their own parts that are completely unique.

Everyone here just buys manufactured parts and puts them on their car. And yes, they look great and perform great as well (typically). This hobby is about the love of the cars and what we do to them to make them look the way we like them.

I wanted mine to be an exact Eleanor replica, in and out. So I bought the car April 2003 for that purpose.

No matter what you've done to your car, you really can't stand up and say "I am creative. I came up with this mod, built it, and made it work. I am the first person to do it and am the only person to have it. I am original! Kiss my feet!"

The only difference is there are a lot more people out there that are attracted to the look of Eleanor than are attracted to the look of most people's INDIVIDUAL "looking" cars.

So please don't preach to me as to how I'm so wrong for not making a 1 of 1, because guess what.....

You Haven't Either.

Shows how much you know. HAHAHAHA....most of the stuff on my car is one of a kind because I designed and made most the parts myself. I usually don't buy parts but raw material. I like things just the way I want them and not some vendor's half thought out execution of a good idea. A lot of the things on my current project you will not see on other cars. Some things are similar because some things need to be on these cars.....like an export brace....and even though they provide basically the same funciton they don't all have to be the same in design or appearance. I do get inspiration from what other talented people do sometimes but I always redesign to some degree if not from scratch to make sure it meets my standards. I have never just copied what someone else did or even had another part in my hand when I designed. I take all my own measurements and draw my own conclusions on the best design under the given circumstances. I also have a tendency to make the same part 3 or 4 times with each iteration being an improvement. I can't leave things alone sometimes because there is always room for improvement.

You can believe whatever you need to soothe your ego but I do and always have had unique parts on my cars and sometines they are the first ones ever made and sometimes the only ones ever made. You really should learn to find out the facts before you open your big mouth, at least I was accurate in my statement. Just because you are not creative does not mean that others are not. I have restored cars all my life and that is boring now so I have to create things to keep my interest up, although handmade parts have made there way onto just about every car I have ever touched.

So just to set the record right I do and have built 1 of 1 vehicles so...

I Have To!!!

BTW....you might want to read this: http://www.lingsoft.fi/~reriksso/competence.html as it may help you understand why it is possible for there to be people out there that can accomplish things that defy your grasp.

Let's not turn this into an argument and KEEP THE THREAD ON TOPIC!

EL1NOR, I think I can learn to work with you. I have the same goal...an exact Eleanor replica in and out. I don't care whether it's creative or new, I love the car and want to build it. Simple as that.

Let's keep this on topic and thanks for the help so far!

Really? For example??

Really? So you're saying that the stuff you piece together out-performs Total Control Products? What about the dozen other mustang parts companies that put in large amounts of $$ into research and testing on their setups...? Just because you make it yourself, it doesn't mean you have a right to say that manufactured pieces by others are "half thought out". It means your parts are unique, not necessarily better.

OK, wait a minute. Now you're contradicting yourself. I said in my original post that you can't stand there and basically say that you are original. And you mean to tell me that you ARE because you make the SAME f**king parts that ALL the manufacturer's make but your's aren't exact duplicates?? You're not original then.. you're cheap. Look, it's not so much that what you do is bad, it's that you make it sound like it's the best and you talk trash about everyone elses parts/efforts. Be it a manufacturer building an export brace or be it me building a GT-500 from GISS. With that mindset, you're pretty much calling out 99% of the board members here and then you're also saying that if I built a regular GT-500 clone I'd be fine. That's no longer backing up your previous statement Ron, that's showing personal preference. And what gives you the right to tell me that I'm wrong for doing what I'm doing? Don't alienate others because they're not doing what YOU want.

Ronstang said:

It sounds like your "standards" are merely just "I'm better than everyone else".

Really? Because you just stated earlier that you did... IE: an export brace...

Obviously you'd take your own measurements, etc. If you were building your own parts and relying on measurements from the web then you'd be an idiot. Although....

Excuse me?! Who came into this thread with nothing but a rude comment towards me and SlnLax43???? YOU DID! Who just ranted 1/2 a page worth of "I'm better than everyone else... manufacturer's included". YOU DID. I only tend to get upset when people wrongfully accuse me of things that they are clearly doing at the time. You're a hypocrite Ron and that's the reason for my reply.

Ronstang said:

Is it too much to ask for examples? I'm just proving you wrong, don't get upset.

Again, you're the jack@ss that opened his "big mouth" first. Hypocrite.

"At least" is used when people are at fault and are following up their admitted mistakes with excuses.

It's so hard dealing with a moron... it's like I'm arguing with someone from the Bush campaign.

So now you're too good to restore cars. It isn't interesting enough for the great Ronstang.... pfff Do you sit in front of your computer with a burger king crown hat on?

BTW... you may want to read this:

-or this-

http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=jackass <--Refer to #2 if you get lost.

The fact that I can strip down an entire car to the bare shell and work by hand to rebuild, etc. Then convert it into an exact replica of a top end, $100,000+ Hollywood movie car that is highly sought after and ALL DONE AND FINANCED BY MY 21 YEAR OLD SELF for the FIRST TIME and RESPECTFULLY shows a lot. It also shows that I don't tread all over people's feet here and insult them because of ANY reason, let alone because of downright jealousy like you have for me. It's maturity. Unfortunately as you've shown, it doesn't come with age. So YOU watch your "big mouth" and stop spitting into the wind because it will ALWAYS come back to slap you in the face.

-Tim

Don't you have an original part to invent right now? Like a Z-bar, or a center console?? You know, things that no one has ever made as good as you... I mean hell, you came up with the ideas before they even made them!
