PROJECT DAILY DRIVE IS GETTING ITS FIRST UPGRADE UPDATED WITH PICS!!

Pics and Info posted below on the 3g 200 amp alt.



My 130 amp PA Performance 3g alt went out. I found out that the person who installed it had messed up the charging lug and it was loose and shorting out thus the low battery.

I found a place on ebay out of Tennesee that sells 200 amp 3g alts remanufactured for 136.99 shipped w/ insurance. It has a 120 day warranty.

I ordered one. I hope it works out for me.

I was gonna go to NAPA and buy a new one for 175.00 but decided I didnt want a 130 amp. I found 150 amps on ebay but then I found this 200 amp for less than the 150 amp. Ill keep you all updated when I get it.
 
I was lucky PA 130amp was free and just got it last week. Xmas FTW. :banana:

The PA 130 that was on my car had a sticker that said it was manufactured in 2003 it lasted untill 08 so thats not bad. It would of lasted longer had they not tweeked the charging lug.
 
I got the Remanufactured 200 amp Alt today and installed it. Its a Motorcraft case.

The first thing I noticed is they didnt give you an extra hex nut to bolt your charging wire down with. I found one in my stash of nuts and bolts so no worries there.
The Second thing I found is the top bolt hole is not tapped. Its a through hole. No big deal again as I had a stainless Nut and bolt to use.

The alt fit just fine in place of the old one. What I didnt notice at first is that the plugs are "clocked" differntly. This actually worked in my favor as it moved the 2 plugs toward the top instead of the bottom. Other than those things it seems to be a great item.

I noticed it charges even when below 1000 rpm. My PA 130 unit would only charge when rpm was around 1000 + rpm.

I am pleased with the 200 amp alt especially for the price.
I emailed them and asked them to ship it ASAP and they did. I paid Tuesday about 530pm and it arrived priority mail Saturday morning. Thats pretty fast for an ebay purchase.

So all in all for 136.99 shipped with insurance I give it a :nice:
And its remanufactured with american made parts! :flag:

You can see the differnce in the "clocking" of the plugs from the back.
Like I said I like the new one better. Its easier to plug in and the wires reached up there just fine.

Heres what shorted out on the PA130 amp I had.
There was a stud sticking out of that hole where the charging wire connected.

You don't really need any more than 130A in my opinion. 200A are nice and all, but you realize some houses run on 200A of power.

Unless you are running a night club inside your car, i don't see the need for anything more than 110/130A of power. Even with Sn95 e-fans and e-water pumps, you rarely reach 130A of total draw. The police cars came with 130A alts for all their lights and that was enough juice for them.
 
I realize that. I run dual elec fans,big amp with subs, and plan on other mods later. The reason I got the 200 amp one is that I got it for less than a 130 amp unit.
 
I had a 80amp on my vert and my 86gt, e-fans on both of the cars, and one with a decent system, and the a/c on constantly, and it would hold 14v constantly even at an idle. So I didnt get a 130 or bigger but I guess you could put a disco ball or something in your stang with that kind of voltage!!
 
It already had a wire from where they installed the pa130. Its a little bigger than a battery wire. They had also used the same wire on the neg battery side in addition to the standard cable.
