Ehhhhhh ... I can see a gap pretty clearly on the Aero bumper, as well. The only difference is that it seems to stick out a bit more whereas the Capri bumper looks more tucked under the tail lenses ... maybe because the LX lenses are shaped differently (they bulge out more)?

Face it. You're just never going to be happy with that car, are you.

Yes. But, where's the harm in trying to figure out the problem and maybe fixing it.

IIRC they made a brace that bolted on the steel bumper to prop up the bumper cover on these cars back in the day. They have some 1/8" thick x 3/4" wide x 4' foot (or so) long aluminum bars at Lowes, they bend nicely in a table vise... its a quick and easy way to make custom light duty brackets or braces.

Actually, that's exactly what I did on the corners because the lower edge on the sides was bowing outward. I just cut about a 3/4" "wedge" of wood and shoved it up between the metal bumper support and the outer shell, and it lined things up better. It helped a smidge on the topside gap, but it mainly just fixed the bowed-out look on the bottom edges. I tried reaching up under there with my hands and lifting the bumper up to see if it'd fix the gap, but apparently upward pressure wasn't helping to close the gap at all, so I don't think a few blocks stuck on top of the metal support would do anything in this case.

You know I think there is a metal piece just above the bumper on my Capri. I also saw in a rag along time ago where you could buy this piece of styrofoam that sits on top of the bumper to remove the sag of the bumper cover. I did this on my Capri since it sags too but I forgot to secure the foam and one day on the freeway I saw it leave my car. Next time when I have the bumper off I will attach it with glue.

I still need the front air dam.

Gotta wait awhile to build up the rest of the funds.
