i almost got a paint job, but i started this instead.

started off with an MM panhard bar. installed that this weekend;

then this arrived today;

finishing the project off with torque arm rear springs, billsteins all around and new mm coilovers for the front.

hoping to get the torque arm installed this weekend. exhaust is getting modified tomorrow. should be doin pretty good on suspension after this. wallet needs some time for recovery

i cut a few 1.9 60' times on my 18" saleen/sumitomo combo this last time out. im hoping to take a few tenths off overall with this new stuff. we will see. it already handles way better with the panhard bar alone and the same 4-link/drag spring front setup.

I'm jealous.

My car is probably going to be a hazard with it being as low as it is on stock C/C plates and 4 cyl. springs. Lmao.

one step at a time bro. i want your turbo setup, lol. im trying to do the whole "build a good foundation" thing.

next i realistically think im gonna do some kind of built trans/rear. then finish off with something nasty under the hood.

Yeah, you're doing it the right way.

I can forsee a future of "forced upgrades" on my car. Lol.

Yeah, Chehalis.

We'll have to figure something out. Maybe we can go watch john make big numbers with his setup when he goes to tune it.

well small progress today. got my kenny brown subframe reinforcements. had my work powdercoat them flat black to cover the bare steel. ill sand off/primer where we weld.

my efforts to find the mystery "thump" since installing panhard bar failed. my frame rail has a gap and is pinching the bracket. so i spent over an hour trying to fit a spacer in there. couldnt fit one of the 12g spacers they include, nor the 16g spacers i made at work. so i cant really point my finger at that. im going to weld it in place just incase its moving somehow.

if its not that, i think its my c-clip axles moving. it always seems to do it from the passenger side, when turning to the right with a slowish weight transfer. like 10 mph turns primarly.

Are panhard bars more for handling, and not straight line? Do they just "locate" the rear axle? Sorry about the newbie suspension question, but just want some info before starting my suspension later on.

they locate side to side movement, it helps alot in the handling department. it made a HUGE difference in my car's handling. even with drag springs i can whip it back and forth at 60+ with no more body roll. i went out and played last night on some back roads, took some 40 mph turns at 90+ and it felt awesome.

the panhard is also required before you do the torque arm. i can say the panhard was a good investment even for street handling. much more fun on the backroads now.

The thunk is probably the bar turning and hitting the mount, my car does it too.
