I have a 1990 Mustang GT. I've had the car for about three years now and i finally decided to rebuild it. It has always run ok...but i've had a few problems here and there like everyone.

After pulling it out and taking it apart, I realized I couldn't have done this at a better time. The rings were almost gone and it had been going for so long that it had a noticeable lip that you could feel on the inside of each cylinder. Since, I have had it bored(really had to anyways) to a 306, and have been gathering parts. As of right now I have almost everything to put it back together but haven't had time yet. But I believe i'm starting the first of this week.

I'm a pic whore so expect lots of pics!

Oh yeah...im a young buck only 18..so no jokes!

Taking the hood off

fan, radiator and belt off

Shorty headers are a B##CH

all belt driven acsessories off

almost ready to pull

yanked and tranny removed...VERY dirty..also..look at the water that drained out of it

heads and lower intake removed

pistons, rods, main caps, and cam removed

Bare Block

Block back from the machine shop, bored, honed, and cleaned

looking good, now is the easiest time to hide 60% of the wires under the hood, you can run them under your front fenders, search around you will see a ton of how to's

keep up the good work over there

Nice build, it looks like you know what you're doing.

I wouldn't even bother getting a MSD distributor, the stocker is the best one around you can save your $$$ for something else.

If you got those motor mounts new at the parts store, take them back and get a set of convertible mounts. The vert mounts are smaller, stronger, and they supposedly lower the engine by 1/2" or so. They were even cheaper than the hardtop mounts when I bought mine; in 92 or 93 the hardtop foxes got vert mounts from the factory.

Look up Sonic Cherry on the web. He's on here as "mansonozz" (spelling?), and he has a small wire hide guide on his website.

Took some new pics of some parts and what i got done today. Painted and cleaned the block, oil pan, and front plate. Then installed the main bearings, crank, and main caps...then torqued them down. After that, I put all the rings on the pistons. Also put the rockers on the heads...

AND put the new pilot bearing in the crank..which was a complete PITA!!...the old bearing wouldnt come out..i tried everything...even a slide hammer...finally i broke out the air chisel and chiseled that B**CH in two and pulled it out....then the new one i just tapped right in

Pilot bearing =

Crank

Old stock and new cobra rockers

Pistons and rods

Work done today:

Painting the block

Block fully painted

Front Plate

Oil Pan

Installed rockers on heads

Installed main bearings, crank, and main caps

Rings on pistons

Oh yeah.. a blurry pic of the stang...lonely and wet..sittin high with no motor yet
