So you just toss these into whatever housings you have (i.e. Cobra clears) and you can see a noticable difference?
yes has long as you get the 9007 bulbs. A noticable difference in glare :rlaugh: the way are lights are made the reflect the light a differnet angles unlike real hid which are encased with a lense to let light out to a point. :nice:
And just to let you know the bulb moves in and out when high/low beam is activated:nonono: so really you don't get high beams but it may be different with projector head lights???

Well, when you put it like that, I think I'll pass.

I had read about the alignment/reflector issues. I HATE seeing scattered HID-looking lights so I might have to pass here (if it was 50 bucks, then I'd do it. Not for over 100 beans though). Thank you for the candor. :nice:

I am close to pulling the trigger on one of those Bi-Xenon kits from the link above, but I want to get a Projector setup so I'm not blinding people.

This projector setup from AmericanMuscle.com is not to be used with HIDs??? Scroll down to the bottom of the page and read what it says under the bulb sizes. WTF is with that?! I thought the main reason to go with a projector setup is if you wanted to use HIDs??http://www.americanmuscle.com/94-98-projector-headlights-black.html

Right now I have the ultra clear headlight and corner assembly. Should I just get the HID kit and pop it in??

Anybody running projectors and HID kits without problems?

I just don't understand why they say not to use HIDs with those projector headlights on that site.

At first I was just using the bulbs with the stock lenses and wasn't real happy with the output, it was a little better than the old bulbs and for the 90 bucks I felt like I was being taken. I wanted smoked lenses but was afaid the lights would put out even less, boy was I wrong. I compared them to a friends BWM in a parking lot letting him make the call as to which were brighter, no difference in how far they projected but when we walked out in front of the cars about 30 feet his were harder to look at.

I'm using these bulbs:

with this harness

and these lenses

I drive very little at night but my wife uses the car every night to and from work and she actually came home smiling.

This was after trying three or four combinations of different bulbs and lenses.

I believe its becausse they get hot enough to melt the plastic.:( since they are enclosed.

I believe you're right. Currently I am using some aftermarket bulbs in my ultra clear headlight assembly and it's a definite upgrade over stock, but when driving in the rain it's like I have no lights on. Plus, the aftermarket bulbs burn a little warmer so they tend to screw up the wiring harness. I guess I'm looking for a better alternative.

I could get the bi-Xenon kit and aim it down a little more, I suppose. Kinda pissed that these aftermarket companies sell projector setups that are not suited for HIDs. That's like having a big bowl of Frosted Flakes but no milk, what's the point?

projectors actually don't get as hot as halogens, but they probably say that because the projectors that are used with HID's make sure that all the light is projected towards downward in order to not blind people.

I get what you're saying, but the projectors that are used with Halogen bulbs do the same. For example, the last generation Mercury Cougars had projector headlamps, but they used Halogen bulbs. The idea is the same, but for some reason you cannot use a projector made for a Halogen bulb with a HID setup.

HIDs run cooler than Halogens, so I don't understand what the deal is with not being able to use that projector setup from AmericanMuscle.com with HIDs?? Maybe it's an issue with bulb length?? Wish I could find out.

Well if you are using halogens, low beams have a painted end on them which forces the light to travel back toward the shiny part of the housing. HID's don't have that part so you would probably need a different lens to redirect the light...
