Just looking for some instruction, pointers and pics to help me install my decklid weatherstipping. I installed a shelby decklid on my 66 fastback and need to put the rubber on now.
Best thing to do is take the deck lid off and flip it over. It is glued on with adhesive. 3m makes a black weatherstripping adhesive that works great. Where the ends meet should be on the bottom of the decklid and not the top.
Use some masking tape to hold it down every 6" or so, so it doesnt slide around on you. Dont need a ton of glue, just a 1/16" film or so. I always put the adhesive on the weatherstripping side and slowly work my way around.
Also, weatherstrip adhesive is like contact cement, that is you put a light film on BOTH parts, let it sit for a few minutes, then set it in place. Make sure you get black adhesive, since it comes in yellow as well, and no matter how hard you try, you'll likely get some squeeze-out and black doesn't show like yellow.
