I dunno what it is for rotors...I know what it is for pads guess it would be the same since you want to transfer some material of the pad onto the rotor.
Do 4 stops from 60mph
4 from 40mph
and 4 from 20mph.
The burnishing procedure for pads and is different than the seasoning procedure for rotors, and it can depend upon the materials used.
You can do an internet search on brake burnishing or go the the manufacturer's site and read what they like to do. All the major brake companies should have tech on their sites too (I know several have very good write ups).
Well I hope he means how do you break in new pads as well, b/c you shouldn't be replacing the rotors and not replace the pads...
But what I do is get up to 30mph, lightly press the pedal until you stop, then drive around the parking lot without pressing the brake pedal for a minute or 2, then repeat the procedure again. I would do it at least 10 times. And that is just my opinion on the subject.
But if you do it like some people, where you don't drive around the parking lot w/o using the brakes, and just repeat the procedure back to back, you will smoke your pads.
