Rust is the Mustang's #1 enemy hands down. They ALL have it; it is just a matter of how much and where. "Ripples" are likely due to poor Bondo work, The only real "cure" for rust is to cut it out and install new metal OR replace the rusted part. Mustangs usually rust in the front lower corners of the doors, the front fenders behind the inner fender support and the rear wheel radiuses, then there's the cowl. It is FAR better to spend more for a decent car than try to bring back a "rust-bucket".
If you go into this with your eyes wide open and some good guidance from a KNOWLEDGEABLE Mustang person, you do fine. Don't be blinded by the price alone.
