Pros and cons of running straight pipe???

Thinking about taking off my mufflers and welding in a straight pipe. Is it best to just run mufflers? Or is straight pipe a good cheap alternative?

cons - annoyingly loud and really not that great for performance either.

put cut outs on the car and keep the muffs if you really want the straight pipe sound.
