PS pump is freaking out on me

Among other things, I replaced all the hoses on my factory power steering setup on my 68. As a result, just about all of the PS fluid was drained out of the system. I filled up the resevior, started up the car, shut it down, topped off the fluid... Did this a couple of times only running the engine for 1 minute or less each time. The last time I started it, the steering wheel turned all the way right on it's own pretty fast and the pump started squealing. I shut it down, checked the fluid and topped it off again. Same thing. Is there a procedure for purging/bleeding a PS system? I read another post recently that had some similarities, but gained nothing conclusive from it. Thanks in advance.

sounds like you got the 2 small hoses crossed, this is common when changing them and will do exactly as you describe or worse the steering wheel will start flailing from side to side. just uncross the hoses and you'll be fine

I won't say it's impossible that I crossed the lines, but I am pretty sure I repolaced them as they were previously. Anyone know of a diagram for lines on the control valve to ram? Easy enough to reverse I guess, but could there be another reason for the cause of my problem? Would trapped air in the system cause a problem like this?

Well, I did spend about 10 hours under my car yesterday, so I probably mixed the 2 lines up. I'll reverse them and see what happens.
