I just purchased a set of stage 2 comp cams and am wondering if anyone has had ptv on a 2001 romeo 4.6. I talked to comp cams and they said to clay the motor but he said if there is a ptv problem that it would be at high rev. So how would claying it do any good.

When degreed in properly, the Comp 270's will clear Flat Top pistons by .100. That said, degree them properly, you will need Adjustable Cam gears to do this. Now I am guessing you don't have Flat Top pistons, but Flat Tops would be the first piston have PTV problems and they clear them.

Now if you don't degree them in, you could very well have PTV issues.

I haven't heard any problems with PTV with comp 270's on a PI block, its the NPI swapped with flat pistons that have the problem. If you have them installed properly you shouldn't have a problem either way.

I do know of a few cars with PTV using 270's and PI pistons. Some of them had valve reliefs machined into the pistons. That could have be avoided had the cams been degreed in properly.

Yes,if you want to spend $600+ on a set of adjustable cam gears. Stock pistons should be ok,aftermarket you will have to be very careful and if there is contact it will be at ALL rpm's.
