I have a 1990 LX, 5.0 with a Vortech S/C that was added way back in 2000. I've only owned it for a little over a month and am still in the discovery stage with this car.

Recently, after discovering that the serpentine belt was literally shredding, I decided to change it as well as the belt on the Vortech. That is when the fun started.

I got the belts replaced without much of a problem, but when i started the car, I quickly found that the serpentine was climbing off of the a.c. pulley.

I should mention that on that side of the engine bay, it looks as if all the brackets are factory, not the ones supplied by vortech. Using eyes only, it appears that the angle is off somewhere. The power steering has a slight backward lean, and the a.c. is more straight up and down.

Since the factory brackets were used, there is zero adjustment, has anyone else had an issue like this, and how did you resolve it?

You can shim things if needed with washers behind the brackets or bolts (I'm better there is a much easier solution). Taking and posting pics might help to have more eyes on it. Sometimes a missing bolt or incorrectly installed bracket will cause nightmares that are so obvious you overlook them.

I thought of this too. However looking at it it really didn't jump out at at me as to how. I'll get some pictures after I get back from work.

I don't know how well these will show anything. The belt will walk back on the a.c. pulley within 30 seconds of starting.

Take a straight edge, place it on the crank then move it to each pulley, that will tell you which one is out of whack from the crank.

You can use either a laser pointer, straight edge or Gates sells a kit with a magnetic laser eye and another alignment piece. Could be the person did not install the PS pulley correct.
