Hey guys, I'm sure this has been put out time and time again but I did a search and to no avail....my question is on the proper pulley setup, I have a RR 2.75 and a BF idler set 3x100mm and 1x92mm aux idler...I will be adding an afco pro-series. I'm just curious if this will be a good setup for me to use as a DD. and if anybody has seen what kind of numbers this puts down!

Thanks all,
James

this thread has been poisted alot...

Get an alternator pulley first so you don't overdrive it.

IMO I would change to a 3.1 upper and a # lower.

Other than that, you will be fine either way....just get an alternator pulley.

And average numbers for your combo with a good CAI (KN or JLT), cat back, and a goot tune is generally around 455-470/460-480

you won't be overspinning the Alt. unless you start going with larger lowers. The rest of the accessories still spin the same speed with the stock lower, no matter what upper you go with. 2.75 RR huh?? WOW you are really spinning that thing!! Do you have the Steig port done?? Also, what will you be using for a tune with that setup?

Dan, no I do not have a steig port yet...I do have a predator, and it will be dyno tuned....this is why I am asking...is this too small without a bunch of mods?

I am by no means an expert on the Eaton, being that I ditched mine after 300 miles. What I have seen on Modularfords.com and SVTP is that you will be overspinning the eaton at anything smaller then 2.8, and run the risk of alot of belt slip. Most people chose to stick with a 2.93 upper and start going with 2#-6# lowers. Either way if you plan on staying Eaton, the best route to go is ported if you have big power plans. Good Idea about going with the Dyno tune. Some people have success with mail order tunes, but nothing can beat doing it right the first time on the dyno.

You sure? I have seen 3 upper only cars have an alternator go out.

I completely see your point, it is just odd that three cars that I know of have had this happen.

There have been quite a few alternator failures reported as of late. Most times it's due to over-spinning it and that can only be accomplished by running a larger lower pulley. I know of two bone stock 04's that have had alternator failures.
