i recently just noticed a pulley whining (not belt squealing) in my car. my s/c just whistles so i can tell the difference between it and the bad pulley. does any one know if the pulley on a supercharger can go bad? the supercharger only has 3500 hundred miles. i dont think its the water, or power steering pump but who know. is there any way to pin point this? any suggestions would be appreciated

The pulley shouldn't go bad, there might be a slight belt noise, just inspect the belt, make sure all of the pullies look allright, I doubt that the pulley itself would make a noise, unless it has a slot on it like the crank pulley, sometimes billet pullies can get the notch widened from wear and tear and it will make more of a clicking sound, you should also make sure that your supercharger is getting oil, the gears in the supercharger will make some noise, and the impeller will make more of a whistleing sound

I had an idler pulley go bad. It seized up an threw off the belt. This happened in the middle of the highway. But this was the older Vortech idlers (small, plastic pieces of crap). I got a newer, stronger pulley.

You might want to try to isolate which pulley is making the noise, and perhaps lubricate the bearing to see if that helps.
