hi my friend let me have his used bbk pulleys from his 5.0
i want to install them
am i going to need to buy a smaller belt

You shouldn't. The larger water pump pulley usually makes up most of the slack of the smaller crank and alternator pullies. The stock tensioner should handle the rest.
