Pullie+Warrenty

Anyone change their pullie on 03 cobra and still get warrenty work, if they will void it for that can you change the pullie to stock w/o evidence of tamper. Thanks alot.

Depends on the dealer. I've heard of some dealers who performed warranty work on a pullied '03 or '04 without any hassle. Problem is the great majority of dealers will void your power train warranty in a heart beat if they find a smaller pulley on there. I guess if I had a 2.93 installed with no idler, and I was still using the stock pulley gaurd, and I needed to have warranty work done on my radio, then no I wouldn't worry about replacing the stock pulley before I took the car in. On the other hand, if there were some type of power train warranty work required, I'd put the stock wagon wheel back on before taking the car in.

As far as evidence of pulley tampering... If you are careful and use a QUALITY pulley puller, you can remove the pulley without messing things up. Problem is the bolts that hold the pulley gaurd on are painted (at least mine are) and they have off color alignment marks. Whether this is factory intentional or not I don't know. It would however be very easy for ME to see my pulley gaurd had been R&R'd. Now who says you can't tell the dealer that you took it off to replace a broken belt?

Bottom line is it all comes down to your local service department and the guys doing the work on your car... some are truly anal, some aren't.

U.M.

if you are pulling the pulley, say byebye to the warranty. ford never intended it's owners to pull the pulley so if you grenade your car because of that, please don't try to get ford to fix it by putting on your new pulley and claiming ignorance. just screws over the guys who have real problems with their 03/04's. :)

It totally depends on the dealership and your service advisor.
I just got a brand new tranny, clutch, flywheel, pressure plate,T/O bearing put in my car Under Warranty. With all the mods I have in my Sig.

Like everyone else said, you are taking your chances. Just pray that if you do the pulley swap everything is ok. That is a dilemma a lot of us are having right now.

Come on Doc...take the plunge into pulleyville! Got my 2.93 and 4 idlers waiting to go on....need the tune first from RWTD.

Time will tell....I'm guessing by mid/late summer you will have a different opinion  ......
Mick, if you have time PM on the cost for everything you got as far as the smaller pulley, idlers, belts, pulley puller, etc. I was just on BilletFlows website. Looks like a lot of scratch for all that stuff. :nonono:

Belt should be around $40 at most.

RR pulley around $130.

And then $$ for the idler pulley(s). The set is expensive, I know. But no slip.

I would try to borrow a puller from some before buying one.

But yes, it does add up.

took mine in for power steering problem and they didnt say anything! i dont even have a pulley cover on it. The law says, to void a warranty, it must be proved that the damage was a direct result of the mod.
