So car was in a wreck. I got in touch with the owner and this is the parts list he has told me so far. I'm not mustang / car savvy so any good input will be appreciated. If it sounds wrong I’m only saying what he said it had.

Full holly System Max upper & lower intake package

Lunati roller rockers,

75mm throttle body

Comp cams custom cut camshaft

FMS 19lbs injectors

full MSD ignition

bbk equal length short headers

it also has a custom Art Carr automatic designed for a 8 sec car.

3,500 non lock up stall converter with a B&M pro shift kit

I’ll be attaching it to 373 gears
using my ford racing shortie headers and bassani O/R X pipe and exhaust.

how much HP can i expect from this engine?? And how much to the ground??

Car also has full adjustable suspension Koni adjustable with eibach pro lowing springs. I’m going to score! (if its not bent.)

I don't think it will be that high, probably more like 250-275 at the crank, only because the only things listed that will make any improvements to hp are the intake, cam and rockers. Stock these cars put out between 205 and 225 depending on the year of the motor. Adding heads might get you up to around that 300 mark. But as it sits, I don't think it will put out much more than 250-275 hp.

Without heads, under 250rwhp.
Heads are the main ingredient, without them the rest of the parts do very little.

well its from a 90 car. but said the engine only has 15,000 miles.

the guy who last owned it said it was dynoed at the wheels at 404hp...??

but he also said the car used to be S/C before he bought it.

so i'm not sure if he's talking before or after the S/C.

another thing is he bought the car built already. so please don't flame me.

Maybe there are other things he is not informing me of. he isn't making one dime from this either. the car was a total loss and i found the car after the fact.

I yank the engine on Friday. but the install is not till next month. then i strip the car of the suspention and hopefuly put in onto my car in the mean time. I doubt i'll have time tho.

I agree...if it's got stock heads, i wouldn't expect too much of a gain.

The loose wiring snaking around the engine bay scares me more.

I seriously doubt that engine made 404HP to the wheels even with a blower.

404 wheel with an S/c is possible, depending on what pulley and all that, but id say it wasnt supercharged with 19# injectors (if the PO was smart) and theres just no way it will put down anywhere near 400 N/A

it has some nice parts, but i agree- the 19lb injectors are a giveaway that this is no where near 404 rwhp at least in current form. pull a valve cover and see if there are any part numbers cast into the heads-that would be a nice clue.

Unless the PO used an FMU, but i still wouldnt think you'd be able to run enough boost to reach the 400s.

It's an optima battery. Yes, you can mount it sideways if you are so inclined.

There is no way that engine made 404RWHP at the wheels with or without a supercharger. My friends 60,000 mile 5.0L 1995 GT with a 9lb Vortec and stock eveyrthing else made 299. Another 105RWHP would be a far goal to acheive.

Basically he has a stock old 5.0L engine with a 400 dollar intake that adds 10HP. What is he asking for this engine? I wouldn't give him much over $500 for it and that is with hearing it run and idle and rev. And I doubt the transmission is built for an 8 second ride. Why would you need a trans that tough in a 180-200RWHP motor?

this guy is feeding you more and more bull has it goes along IMHO. Looking at the pics I don't even think it had a s/c on it. Be careful.

I agree. I HATE people that lie to push a sale on parts. I'm in the parts business and I am always 100% honest with people. You have to be. Lies always catch up with you. Even if you never see the person again, you still gotta tell the truth.

From what i read, he's getting the engine for free but has to pay for install?

$500 or less installed and i'd def go for it no matter what is on it

If this had a SC on it at some point and it was removed, its totally possible that the car had bigger injectors on it that were also removed and replaced with the 19 pounders.
